Fairy tales have been passed down for generations, shaping the way we see magic, love, and heroism. But beneath the surface of these classic stories lies something deeper—darker. In my Forsaken Fairy Tales series, I take these beloved legends and unravel them, exposing the shadows that have always been lurking at the edges.

Why Do We Love Dark Retellings?
The answer is simple: we see ourselves in them. Traditional fairy tales often present the world in black and white—good versus evil, hero versus villain. But life isn’t that simple, and neither are the best stories.
Twisted retellings give us:
✨ Stronger, Flawed Characters – Heroes who aren’t perfect and villains who aren’t purely evil.
✨ A Sense of Realism – Life is messy, unpredictable, and sometimes cruel. Dark retellings reflect that.
✨ New Perspectives – What if Sleeping Beauty wasn’t a damsel but a survivor? What if Snow White’s kingdom wasn’t as pure as it seemed?
The Magic in the Darkness
When I wrote Slumber, I didn’t want Aurora’s story to be about a passive princess waiting for fate to decide her future. I wanted her to fight for it. In Blood Red, Snow White’s story became one of power, betrayal, and a queen struggling against the weight of her own past.
Dark fairy tales remind us that even in the most twisted of stories, there is hope, resilience, and a way forward.
What’s Next?
