Through the Thorns: Beauty in Broken Stories

Not every story begins with “Once upon a time,” and not every photograph needs a smile to speak volumes.
Some of the most powerful moments—whether told in words or captured in stillness—emerge from places of darkness, silence, and survival.

🖤 Why We’re Drawn to the Broken

There’s something magnetic about imperfection. A crumbling castle, a tangle of brambles, the moment before the tears fall—these are the scenes I return to again and again. They remind me that beauty isn’t always polished. Sometimes it’s raw, jagged, and wrapped in shadows.

Just like the twisted fairy tales I write, my photos of weathered trees, stormy skies, or the vulnerable gaze of a wild animal all tell stories of resilience.

🖤 Photography as Modern Mythmaking

A photo can be a prophecy.

A poem can be a curse.

And together, they become a spell—a moment of truth captured before it fades.

Through my lens, I look for echoes of old stories in new places. A crow silhouetted against a silver sky. A mossy forest trail that seems to lead nowhere (or everywhere). These aren’t just settings—they’re chapters waiting to be written.

🖤 Finding the Magic in the Unfairy Tale

In Slumber, Rory doesn’t just sleep—she fights. In Blood Red, Snow White isn’t the fairest, but the fiercest. These aren’t girls waiting for rescue. They are the storm.

When I step into nature, I see reflections of that same wild strength.

A tree twisted by wind still reaching for the sun.

A fox limping through the snow but unbowed.

The world writes its own poetry, and sometimes, I’m just lucky enough to catch a stanza.

🌙 What’s Next?

I’m working on a new series of photos and stories that dive deeper into the spaces between fairytales and reality. Think moonlit woods, crumbling ruins, and heroines who carry daggers behind their smiles.

Whether you’re here for the tales, the images, or the moments in between—I’m so glad you’re part of this world.
